Facebook user Buttsy, who has nearly 5,000 followers, shared a video on Sept. 17, saying that Singapore is unlike any other place in the world, Singaporean news site Stomp reported.

"Singapore doesn't have its own culture in the way most nations do. Its culture is simply multiculturalism through and through," said the tourist, who described himself as a Westerner.

What he found the "craziest" was that people in Singapore commonly speak English even though it is not a Western country.

"And everyone speaks English, yet there are no Westerners there," he said.

The video has garnered more than 385,000 views, 2,400 reactions, and 360 comments.

Several netizens were amused that Buttsy thought there were no Westerners in Singapore.

"We do have them, but they're a minority compared to the other races," one commented.

Others, pleased by his positive view of Singapore, warmly welcomed him.

"It's baked in us to understand each other," said a Facebook user.

"This is Singapore for you. Welcome to Singapore!" another said.

English is one of Singapore's four official languages, besides Mandarin Chinese, Malay, and Tamil.

Singapore recorded 11.43 million tourists in the first eight months of this year, down 1.7% year-on-year.

The city-state is seeking to boost year-end tourism by launching new routes and increasing flight frequencies to Asian tourism hubs and Europe.
