In June alone, Indonesia received 1.39 million international visitors, up 2.15% from a year earlier as tourism demand continued to recover, Jakarta Globe reported.

Foreign tourists spent more during visits to Indonesia in the second quarter despite shorter stays, with average expenditure rising 7.2% year on year to US$1,285 per trip, the country's Central Statistics Agency (BPS) said Monday.

Indonesia is targeting 16-17 million international tourist arrivals this year.

Other Southeast Asian neighbors, including Malaysia and Vietnam, also reported strong tourism growth in the first half of the year.

Malaysia retained its position as Southeast Asia's most-visited country after recording 21.12 million international visitor arrivals in the first half of 2026, a 2.5% increase from a year earlier.

Thailand, a key tourism hub in Southeast Asia, recorded 16.7 million foreign tourists between January and June, a 3.09% year-on-year drop.

Vietnam received 12.3 million international visitors in the first six months of the year, a 14.9% increase from the same period last year.

It was followed by Singapore with 8.12 million visitors, down 1.7% year-on-year due to slowdown from major source markets such as Indonesia and India.
