Singapore's Changi Airport also rises five positions to fifth as both its destination network and number of potential low-cost connections increase.

The airport offers almost 11,316 low-cost connections across 167 destinations.

Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport in the Philippines ranked sixth, down three places from last year, with 6,580 possible low-cost connections across 98 destinations.

Indonesia's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport secured the seventh postion, marking the first time it appeared on the list.

The airport serving Jakarta offers 7,322 low-cost connections across 110 destinations.

Thailand's Suvarnabhumi International Airport ranked 14th, up two places from last year, with 8,028 destinations across 171 destinations.

Denpasar Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport in Indonesia ranked 17th, up three palces from last year, with 2,752 connections across 68 destinations.

Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City debuted on the list at 19th, with 3,730 connections across 100 destinations.

Low-cost airlines provide 51% of all seats in Southeast Asia, compared with a global average of 34%, OAG said.

The OAG ranking measures the breadth of low-cost connections available. For travelers, a strong low-cost hub can mean more budget airlines, offering more routes and itinerary options to choose from.
