Vitidsarn is the younger sister of renowned male player Kunlavut Vitidsarn, the 2023 world champion and Paris 2024 Olympic silver medalist who previously held the number one spot on world rankings.
Due to an injury that required surgery, Vitidsarn did not compete in 2025. Her world ranking dropped to 106th, leaving her unseeded at the Vietnam Open. This required her to play through the qualifiers and defeat several strong opponents, including a 2-0 semifinal victory over the top-seeded Indian player, Sharma.
Vitidsarn started confidently against the third-seeded Baruah in the final. She frequently drew her opponent close to the net before executing finishing shots to build a 6-2 lead.
Baruah, currently ranked 37th in the world, played better in the second set and created a close race with Vitidsarn on the scoreboard.
However, the Thai player remained composed, executing skillful shots and covering the court effectively to lead 11-8.
The 2026 Vietnam Open is part of the Badminton World Federation’s Super 100 Tour and took place at the Nguyen Du Gymnasium from Sept. 8 to 13. The tournament attracted over 300 players from 27 countries and territories, featuring a total prize purse of $120,000, with singles champions receiving $9,000 and doubles champions receiving $9,480.
