A photo recently went viral across Malaysian social media showing the 72-year-old former player standing beside his bride at their wedding ceremony, prompting local football fans to question his current marital status.

His younger brother, Datuk Yunus Alif, confirmed that the wedding took place on Aug. 27. He stated that both families approved of the relationship, according to New Straits Times.

Yunus, who is also a former national team player and coach, said the marriage faced no obstacles and the couple have received numerous well-wishes from their relatives.

He told Sinar Daily that his brother might currently be on his honeymoon, which would explain why he is not answering phone calls.

A close source, identified as a former teammate of Abdah, also verified the authenticity of the viral wedding photo, but refrained from disclosing further details regarding the time or venue of the ceremony, according to New Straits Times.

Abdah played a prominent role for the Malaysia national football team during the country's celebrated golden era in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He contributed to the team's improved performance and their successful qualification for the 1980 Moscow Olympics. However, the Malaysia national team ultimately did not participate in the Moscow Games.
