The pop icon completed the deal in late September, paying below the $29.85 million asking price Jolie set when the property was listed in May, according to Robb Report.

Because Madonna was away from Southern California at the time, her representatives arranged a private video tour of the estate, the New York Post reported. "Madonna’s people called up and the tour was arranged," an industry source told the publication.

Jolie bought the property for $24.5 million in 2017, shortly after separating from Brad Pitt, and made it a private family home.

Entertainment outlets have reported that the Oscar-winning actress had planned to leave Los Angeles once her youngest children, twins Vivienne and Knox, turned 18 in July.

Built in 1913, the estate has a long connection to Hollywood history. Legendary filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille bought the home in 1916 for a reported $27,893 and lived there until his death in 1959.

Around 1920, he also purchased a neighboring house that had once been rented by Charlie Chaplin and connected the two buildings with a corridor.

The combined property remained in the DeMille family until the late 1980s.

Located in the gated Laughlin Park neighborhood, the estate covers about two acres and includes an approximately 11,000-square-foot main residence with six bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, a library and a fitness center.

The property also reportedly provided temporary shelter for some of Jolie’s friends during the Los Angeles wildfires in January 2025.

Madonna, 68, has a long history of buying and selling luxury homes in Southern California.

In 2021, she purchased a Hidden Hills estate previously owned by The Weeknd for $19.3 million before selling it for $23 million in 2023, according to Mansion Global.

She has also owned or maintained properties in London, Portugal, Manhattan and the Hamptons.

Forbes estimates Madonna’s fortune at around $850 million.

Jolie, meanwhile, owns property outside California as well, including a rural estate in Cambodia and a commercial building in New York used for her fashion venture, according to L'OFFICIEL USA.
