In July 2026, Macron opted for a simple dress as she welcomed South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and his wife, Tshepo Motsepe, to the Élysée Palace. The understated look received praise from fashion publications.
Macron’s relationship with Louis Vuitton dates back to 2015, before her husband became president, when she began wearing designs by the French fashion house, particularly those by Ghesquière, according to Vogue.
Ghesquière has since created outfits for many of her major official appearances, including Emmanuel Macron’s inauguration, King Charles III’s coronation, events surrounding the Paris Olympics and numerous overseas visits.
At a banquet at Guildhall in London on July 9, 2025, Macron wore a black Louis Vuitton column gown with silver sequins embellishing its structured shoulders. She accessorized with a clutch, white-gold and diamond earrings, a bracelet and a ring, according to the fashion house.
Macron does not own every Louis Vuitton outfit she wears. Ghesquière creates looks for official occasions that she returns after wearing them, according to Madame Figaro.
