The body, whose nationality has not been determined, was discovered at around 6:55 a.m. in the wheel well of a flight from Tokyo, Japan, The Star newspaper reported.

The body was reportedly found by engineering personnel who were opening the aircraft’s wheel well after they detected a foul smell coming from the compartment, the South China Morning Post reported.

The discovery was reported to the KLIA2 police station operations room, and police forensic personnel were later sent to the scene to conduct further investigations.

Initial investigations indicated that the victim was believed to be in their 20s and may have been dead for more than 72 hours.

However, no identification documents were found on the body. The victim was wearing jeans and a white shirt.

Police are continuing their investigation to establish the victim’s identity and determine the cause of death.

Kuala Lumpur International Airport, the largest in Southeast Asia by land area, handled 36.7 million passengers in the first seven months of this year, up 3.4% year-on-year, driven by summer travel demand from Europe, the Middle East and parts of Asia.
