Keppel, in collaboration with Tien Phong newspaper, with the support from ADG National Investment and Technology Development Corporation has expanded its "Bytes for Future" initiative to Hanoi, providing 55 computers, 90 headsets and two smart TVs to Son Dong Primary School – Song Phuong Branch and Van Canh Primary & Secondary School – Van Canh Secondary School Branch in Son Dong Commune.

The expansion marks the initiative's first deployment in Hanoi and brings the total number of students reached across Vietnam to more than 4,400 since its launch in 2024.

The schools previously had limited access to digital equipment, with two to four students sometimes sharing a computer and some existing devices outdated. The new equipment is expected to improve students' access to digital resources and help teachers incorporate more technology into lessons.

Launch ceremonies were held at both schools on Sept. 11, attended by Nguyen Duy Cuong, Deputy Chief of Office of the Hanoi National Assembly Delegation and People's Council and former Vice Chairman of the Son Dong Commune People's Committee, and Joseph Low, Chief Representative of Keppel in Vietnam and President of Vietnam Real Estate at Keppel.

Joseph said digital skills are increasingly important as digitalization and artificial intelligence reshape industries.

"Through 'Bytes for Future,' we hope to help students build the capabilities and confidence needed to participate in and benefit from an increasingly technology-driven economy," he said.

"As Keppel continues to grow its presence in Vietnam, we are pleased to extend this initiative to Hanoi and support the local community. This reflects our commitment to creating meaningful and lasting positive impact in the communities where we operate."

Nguyen Duy Cuong, Deputy Chief of Office of the Hanoi National Assembly Delegation and People's Council and former Vice Chairman of the Son Dong Commune People's Committee, believes that the "Bytes for Future" initiative will help students in Son Dong Commune overcome barriers to accessing technology and open up opportunities for them to access modern knowledge. "It'll also lay a strong foundation for the continued development of education in the local community."

On Son Dong Primary School's side, Principal Nguyen Manh Hanh said that the timely support and care from Keppel and Tien Phong Newspaper through the initiative are truly meaningful. "The practical donation of computers, together with their encouragement and support, has helped address some of the challenges faced by our school and created better conditions for our teachers and students in teaching and learning, particularly in accessing information technology – an area that is increasingly important in today's digital age."
