Saigon Jewelry Company gold bar went up 0.41% to VND147.1 million (US$5,644.67) per tael. A tael equals 37.5 grams or 1.2 ounces.

Gold ring gained 0.2% to VND148.9 million per tael. Gold prices in Vietnam have fallen 3.73% so far this year.

Globally gold added 0.82% to $4441.60 per ounce, bucking the 1.50% decline of the two previous sessions.

Inflation worries remained high as a weekend exchange of strikes on shipping sent oil prices higher, while ⁠Iran said it will announce a new restricted zone in the Gulf in the coming days, along with maps of a new shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz, Reuters reported.
