Saigon Jewelry Company gold bar went down 0.34% to VND146.1 million (US$5,616.22) per tael. A tael equals 37.5 grams or 1.2 ounces.

Gold ring was steady at VND146.6 million per tael. Gold prices have fallen 4.4% so far this year.

Globally spot gold fell 0.1% to $4,338.50, continuing its decline from Monday, as expectations of further policy tightening by the U.S. Federal Reserve this year and hawkish signals from other major central banks strengthened the dollar, Reuters reported.

"We are seeing some lingering concerns among the bulls about tighter U.S. monetary policy, which has pushed the U.S. dollar index to a more than two-month high on Friday. Those bearish elements are working against the precious metals," said Jim Wyckoff, a market analyst at American Gold Exchange.
