Gold prices decline

Saigon Jewelry Company gold bar dropped 0.71% to VND140 million (US$5,326.65) per tael. A tael equals 37.5 grams or 1.2 ounces.

Gold ring was unchanged at VND141.2 million per tael. Gold prices in Vietnam have fallen 8.4% so far this year.

Globally gold nudged higher on Tuesday as investors weighed mixed signals on potential U.S.-Iran ‌talks and awaited a series of U.S. labor market reports this week for clues on the Federal Reserve's interest-rate trajectory, Reuters reported.

Spot gold rose 0.2% to $4,059.81 per ounce, with investors looking ahead to reports on the U.S. labour market, including job opening data later in the day, the ADP employment report on Wednesday and nonfarm payrolls figures on Friday.

"Gold is currently in a consolidation phase. If we see weakness in the job market, it could pressure the U.S. dollar and as result there will be gains in gold," said Ajay Kedia, director at Mumbai-based Kedia Commodities.
