Crystal Jade recently confirmed to The Straits Times that its Hong Kong Kitchen outlet at The Clementi Mall had closed on Tuesday while its Jurong Point location is set to cease operations on Friday as part of its ongoing outlet network review.

The group had closed another local outlet at the Great World shopping mall on Sept. 1 and two others earlier this year, citing the same reason, as reported by AsiaOne.

Established in Singapore in 1991, Crystal Jade grew over the years and opened more than 100 outlets globally across several dining concepts in Singapore and overseas markets, including China, South Korea and Vietnam.

Its operations in the city-state comprise six restaurant brands, ranging from Cantonese fine dining to casual noodle, dim sum and other Chinese cuisine concepts.

Its Crystal Jade Golden Palace outlet at The Paragon mall was awarded one Michelin star from 2016 to 2018.

Following the latest closures, Crystal Jade has 13 Singapore outlets, including four Hong Kong Kitchen restaurants, according to its website.

The shutdowns add to the growing list of food and beverage closures in Singapore this year, with 2,101 such businesses shutting down in the first seven months, a 25.1% year-on-year increase, according to data from the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority.

Data released by the Singapore Department of Statistics earlier this month shows F&B services sales fell 1.9% year-on-year to an estimated S$1.6 billion in July, following a 2.3% decline in June.

Food courts and other eating places, as well as cafes, saw the biggest declines of 6.6% and 6.4%, respectively, while fast-food outlets and food caterers reported sales growth.
